It was a warm day on the ice as many gathered to honor a Mesa State hockey player who lost his life earlier this year.

Jake Brock died in March after being hit by a drunk driver.

Today he is being honored at the Glacier Ice Arena before the Mavericks take on New Mexico.

Jake's jersey and the number ten is being retired and will hang above the rink for all to remember him by.

Coaches and teammates say he was a team player, a person who was always determined to put the puck in the net, and a leader in the locker room.

His family couldn't be more proud of their son and of his team for their support.

The Brock family would also like to thank the Grand Junction community for all the support during their time of sorrow.
