An avid cyclist is now in the hospital with serious facial injuries after being thrown from her bicycle.
The 55 year old Grand Junction woman was cycling in Fruita when something became lodged in the wheel of her high end road bike. This caused the Carbon Fiber fork of the bike to snap, the woman fell from her bike fracturing her face.
She was unconscious when authorities arrived and transported her to St. Mary's Hospital. She did undergo surgery today, her current condition is unknown. She was wearing a helmet.
