Seventh Street is now open to traffic after ten months of construction. Friday evening Mayor Jim Doody lit the tree in the center of the roundabout to celebrate the opening.

Some businesses say it was a little rough during all the construction.

The Cabaret dinner theater says at some points during construction it lost almost half of its business.

The Blue Moon Bar & Grill says it was a little frustrating, but it managed to keep business alive and it has very loyal customers that didn't mind braving the road closures and traffic cones.

Many people wondered why the project took so long. The Downtown Development Authority says the project was very complicated because much of the work was customized. It also said that 80% of the work was underground and involved utility cables, fiberoptic cables and water and sewage lines.

The Dowtown Development Authority and even businesses that say it was a bit of a headache agree that it was worth the wait and overall the project is beneficial to the downtown area.

The city says landscaping and lights still need to be installed so there will be a few more road closures. The city says the closures will be in the afternoon and not during rush hour.
