Interstate 70 is open, after several accidents forced the closing of the highway overnight.
A one mile stretch of the interstate was the scene of about a half dozen accidents. The road was closed from about 9:00 PM Thursday until 3:30 AM Friday.
One accident involved a semi truck and a small pick up truck. The driver of the pick up was taken to the hospital. The driver's condition is unknown at this time.
Even rescue crews were involved in the carnage. An oil-field truck slammed into the back of the Grand Junction Fire Department's Battalion Chief's car. The truck slid off the road, and the fuel tank ruptured causing a spill.
