Cheyenne Corbett will spend sixteen years behind bars for killing her newborn baby girl. A judge sentenced her this morning.
The sentence is part of a plea agreement in which prosecuters dropped first degree murder charges. Corbett gave birth to her healthy baby girl in July of 2006, wrapped the baby in a towel, and hid her in an entertainment system where she suffocated. She initially denied ever being preganant.
Today she told a courtroom full of emotional family and friends that if she has to go to prison to make sure this doesn’t happen to another child or family then she would take responsibility and serve her sentence.
