Sometime after seven this evening, a water main on North Avenue between 5th and 6th streets burst.

It pumped gallons of water onto the streets, as well as, pushing debris into the roadways.

Grand Junction police officers were on scene to keep cars out of the way of the small river created by the pipe bust..

Officials say this isn't the only pipe to bust in the last few days, and says the reason they are bursting is because of the cold temperatures causing the pipe lines to shift.

Officials say the water has been shut off between 4th and 6th Streets on North Avenue, and on Belford Avenue. They are not sure as to when water will be restored, but do say everything should be fixed by morning.
