Voting Machine Testing

Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Janice Rich is holding a public test of the county's voting machines this afternoon.

She has invited the media to participate in what she calls a "transparent" test of the machines after Secretary of State Mike Coffman decertified them.

Last month, Coffman said a report found accuracy and security problems with seventy five percent of the state's voting machines.

Rich says the federally certified voting machines count votes correctly and she will show that this afternoon.

Meanwhile in Denver, Coffman briefed lawmakers on the problems with voting equipment. He says it's still possible that the electronic voting machines he decertified could be fixed in time for this year's elections.
