The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $3.10.
But its hard to believe that Colorado has the lowest gas prices in the nation.
According to AAA's fuel gage report, Coloradans are paying an average of $2.89 for a gallon of regular unleaded, 21 cents lower than the national average.
One year ago the average price for a gallon of gas in Colorado was $2.20, 10 cents lower than the national average. Today the price for a barrel of crude oil hovers around $90. an increase of almost five times that amount from 2002.
And while the average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded gass rose 68 cents this past year, experts say this summer could see rates go even higher.
The cheapest gas 11 news spotted around town was two dollars and 81 cents at Sinclair on 25 and Patterson, the most expensive was two dollars and 99 cents at Conoco.
