The fire happened at around 2 A.M. Sunday morning at 1824 “I” road in Fruita.
Fire officials say the garage caught fire and then quickly spread to the house and attic, it took Lower Valley Fire District more than three hours to control the blaze and extinguish hot spots.
One man was in the house at the time of the fire, he sustained second degree burns to his hands. Fire officials say the house is a total loss because of smoke and water damage. They also had to rip the roof off to get to the flames in the attic.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but officials think it's an electrical fire.
