Four Burger King restaurants around the county are Blue Ribbon recipients, along with two Taco Bell, and two McDonald's restaurants. The Mesa County Health Department handed out the annual Blue Ribbon Awards today to area restaurants that have continued excellence in food service sanitation.

Only 27 out of more than 600 restaurants in Mesa County received this award. Other restaurants featured are The Winery, Fraps and Wraps, and many more.

Restaurants that weren't up to par were the Tea House in Clifton with the most violations, 42, Pufferbelly’s rang in with 40 violations, and the Golden Corral had 38. They claim it's because of turnover of kitchen managers. China Jade Restaurant had 36, the Double Tree Hotel had 32, and the Black Bear Diner had 31.

You can get a full list of restaurants and violations. 11 News contacted all of the restaurants mentioned and only the Golden Corral commented on their violations. No restaurants were shut down in 2007.
