The first meeting to develop a strategic planning process for the Mesa County libraries was Thursday and involved members of the community representing various sectors.
The purpose of the meeting is to plan for the future and consider changes that can be made to the libraries to improve the various branches. Hot topics of discussion were the physical improvement of the facilities, how to better market the library and its programs. Other issues are literacy and citizenship, improving technology and adding community centers.
Those involved with the strategic planning wish to make it clear that nothing discussed Thursday is final and they are still looking for community input. The next meeting is scheduled for March 6th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Home Loan Building.
