Just before 8pm authorities got a call that a woman was lying alongside the road on Interstate 70 near mile marker 51, and she may have been hit by a car.
When the Mesa County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene they say they found the woman was heavily intoxicated and say she didn't have any visible injuries.
After further investigation they determined she had been in a Sunshine Taxi headed up valley towards the Glenwood Springs area when she became disorderly and got physical with the driver.
They say that driver then pulled over to get her out of the car.
Officials say they tried to ask the woman if she was in fact hit by a car, but couldn't get any information out of her.
She was taken to St. Mary's to be checked out.
The investigation is ongoing.
