The USDA says it will cover the cost of meat pulled from District 51 school menus.
School officials announced Tuesday that the vendor that provides beef to local schools had distributed some of the recalled meat. As a result, school officials have decided to pull all beef products from school cafeterias until the U.S. Department of Agriculture clears them.
The district says the move is only a precaution, and they don't believe any of the recalled beef made its way into Mesa County schools.
The district also says they don't know if the vendor will replace the beef.
