Some would say one man's trash is another mans treasure, but in the case of one local man, his trash is the county's problem.
Mesa County has had to take action about all the junk accumulated in Vernon Neil Winders yard. The county had to clean up Winder's property once before in 1998.
This time it is costing more than $12,000 and will take about a week. The county tells us that Winders says the junk in his yard is actually part of his appliance repair business. The county says that a jury found that no such business exists.
County officials say they will continue to drop by Winder's property, and if junk continues to pop up, they will take legal action. The mobile home on Winder’s property has also been condemned because the roof caved in.
