Police stand guard outside the U.S. embassy in Belgrade this morning after hundreds of rioting Serbs attacked and set fire to the building last night.

At least one person was killed, more than a hundred others injured, when protesters stormed the American embassy compound and set fire to the building.

No americans were hurt during the riot.

Several other embassies, including Turkey and Croatia, were also damaged by rioters.

The violence erupted after more than a hundred thousand people attended an anti–Kosovo independence rally in a nearby square in the Serbian capital.

Protesters are angry at the U.S. and other western nations for recognizing Kosovo’s independence.
