ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - The Denver Broncos released wide receiver Javon Walker today.
Walker had a brilliant first season with the Broncos in 2006 and got off to a good start last year with two 100-yard games. But he missed the next two months after an operation on his right knee, and Brandon Marshall took over as the team's top receiver.
Walker's stay in Denver was also marked by tragedy. Teammate Darrent Williams died in his arms when Williams was shot after a New Year's Day party.
The Broncos also released linebacker Ian Gold today. He spent a total of seven seasons in Denver.
