Albany, N.Y. (AP) Insiders say New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is still trying to decide whether to resign or not amid mounting pressure for him to leave over a call girl scandal.

A Marist college poll suggests 70 percent of New Yorkers think Spitzer should resign.

If he doesn't step down, two-thirds of those polled think the Democrat should be impeached.

State Assembly Republican Leader James Tedisco has warned that he'd call for impeachment if Spitzer doesn't resign within two days. Impeachment would be a difficult fight in the Democratic-controlled state assembly.

Some democrats say Spitzer is considering hanging on, while others privately maintain that resignation appears inevitable.

The governor and his family remain secluded in their Manhattan apartment.
