A tuition increase at state college's and universities may be in the works for the next school year.
The Colorado Commission on Higher Education has approved college and university increases of up to nine percent. Four-year institutions like Mesa State College can increase tuition up 7 percent, and community colleges can go up five percent.
Representatives from Mesa State College say this is just a recommendation, and the earliest the board of trustees will decide is in May at its next meeting. Mesa State typically raises tuition anywhere from two to five percent every year.
