Mount Vernon, N.Y. (AP) The family of a New York police officer who was mistakenly shot and killed by fellow officers is criticizing an investigation into the January incident.
A Westchester County grand jury has voted not to indict four officers in the fatal shooting of Christopher Ridley.
The Mount Vernon police officer was off duty and was trying to arrest an assault suspect. The other officers mistook him for a suspect and opened fire when he didn't follow orders to drop his gun.
Ridley's family says the investigation was rushed and incomplete, and alleges there's been a cover-up.
The district attorney says she has faith and confidence in the grand jury system. But supporters of Officer Ridley are calling for state and federal investigations. They plan to rally next week at the scene of the shooting in downtown White Plains.
