A bill that would help lower the costs of textbooks has made its way to the Governor's desk.

The State Senate gave bill 73 its final approval Friday.

If the bill is signed into law, college professors would not be allowed to order textbooks until they know how much the publisher is going to charge for them. It would also require publishers to report changes made in new editions of textbooks and prevent them from bundling books with things like CD-Roms and work books so they can raise prices.

The bill now awaits the Governor Bill Ritter's signature.
