Parachute, Colo. (AP) State records allege that Berry Petroleum Co. did not immediately report spills of drilling fluids on private lands on the Roan Plateau.
The Oil and Gas Conservation Commission records indicate the first spill was in late November, and was followed by two others. They were not reported until Jan. 22, three days after the last spill, according to the Glenwood Post-Independent.
The newspaper said the company has met with the agency to discuss remediation.
The spills impacted state waters in the garden gulch area. The company issued a statement referring to only one release, and said it resulted in no significant environmental damage.
