A man tried to break into a Clifton home Friday night but the owner was ready with a gun in hand.
According to an arrest affidavit, Steven Woodard tried to break into the house through the back door. The home owner called 911 and told the dispatcher he had a pistol.
When sheriff's deputies arrived on scene they say they found Woodard breaking items on the porch.
Deputies tried to taser Woodard but say his leather jacket stopped the probes. Eventually they were able to take him down and handcuff him. He was booked into the Mesa County Jail on assault, burglary, resisting arrest and other charges.
