Houston (AP) The badly injured Tejano singer Emilio Navaira has undergone surgery at a houston hospital, and his agent says the next 24 hours will be “very critical.”
Navaira suffered a head injury when his band's bus crashed on a highway in Houston early Sunday. Seven others on the bus also were injured. Hours after the crash, the grammy-winning singer had an operation to remove a blood clot.
According to the band's web site, Navaira was born in San Antonio and earned a music scholarship from Texas state. In 1989, he formed the band Rio with brother Raul, who was among those hurt in the wreck.
The band performed at a Houston nightclub Saturday night.
