Spanish scientists say they have discovered the remains of the oldest bipedal primate, or hominid, ever found in Western Europe.
The teeth and lower jaw bone are estimated to be up to 1.2 million years old. That's 400 thousand years older than the oldest previously known bones found in Western Europe.
The scientists have assigned the fossils to a species that may be an ancestor of neanderthals and modern humans.
