A one car rollover on Interstate 70 at the Debeque exit kills one and sends six others to the hospital.
The driver, 24 year old Dusty Reeves, was booked into Mesa County Jail for charges of vehicular homicide, 2 counts of vehicular assault, DUI and five counts of careless driving causing bodily injury.
Around 7pm Wednesday night, Reeves lost control of a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer and left the road. The SUV rolled one and a half times and came to rest on it's roof. The Trailblazer was so mangled that authorities could not initially identify the make of the vehicle.
Four of the seven occupants were ejected. The front seat passenger, 22 year old Jennifer Torbet, sustained fatal injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt.
Careflight and ambulances from Plateau Valley, Parachute and Palisade were all called in to assist. Officials now believe that speed is not a factor and that none of the passengers were wearing seat belts.
