Colorado State Patrol says westbound and eastbound lanes of I-70 around Vail Pass are open again after a 70 car pileup shut down the road for most of the day.

State Patrol was notified of a multiple car crash on westbound 1-70 near mile marker 189 around 1:20pm Monday. Eastbound I-70 was closed to allow emergency vehicles access to the accident.

State Patrol says bad weather may have played a part in the incident. One person is confirmed dead in the accident and many others were transported with serious injuries.
