Waycross, GA. (AP) Police in Georgia have been questioning a group of children accused of plotting to attack their teacher.

The police chief says the plot was a serious one, even though the children are all in the third grade -- and all aged nine and under.

Acting on a tip, authorities seized a broken steak knife, handcuffs, duct tape and other items from the students, who apparently intended to use them against the teacher. The veteran teacher may have scolded one of the children for standing on a chair.

As many as nine boys and girls are believed to be involved. The students are too young to be charged with a crime, though they could be expelled.
