A skydiving instructor and his student were killed while attempting a tandem jump at a Colorado airport.
The accident happened Saturday afternoon at Vance Brand Municipal Airport, where the men attempted to jump from a plane at over ten thousand feet.
According to officials with the Longmont Police Department, both men took a turn and fell the final 50 feet to the ground.
The 28–year–old student died at the scene and the 54–year–old instructor died later at an area hospital.
Officials say there was no indication that the skydivers' equipment had failed. Investigators from the FAA will try to determine if strong winds played a role in the accident.
