A two month investigation by the Fruita Police Department leads to the arrest of a homeless man.

22-year-old John Phinnell was arrested Saturday and is facing charges of sex assault on a child in a position of trust under the age of 15. Fruita Police launched an investigation back in February and obtained a warrant for his arrest Saturday.

Phinnell is currently being held in the Mesa County Jail on a $60,000 bond.

I have been and will be in every one of John Phinnells hearings I personally believe he is being set up and that the lady talking of his father needs to get her facts straight! Mind your own business LADY!!

To he lady hat is refering to John Phinnell's father. Innocent untill proven guilty in addition to that this has nothing to do with his father no need in slandering!!!

It is too bad that John Phinnell took the route his father did. A real shame.

Your coverage on the hiker who fell at the Colorado Nat. Mon. was awesome. I watched the footage from each station and you by far were the best. Most information and most accurate. Great Job. Also the photographer on sceen was very nice. My husband is the man who bravely jumped dowm to help her. We saw the sceen first hand and can honestly say your coverage blew theirs away. We are keeping contact with the couple and updates with her condition. We wish her the best recovery.
