Parking at Canyon View Park will have a few changes Saturday.

Grand Junction Police want Canyon View Park visitors to know they will no longer allow parking for some parts along G road near the southside of the park. Police Thursday took down bags covering the no parking signs.

Police officials say the parking change is much needed. Grand Junction Police Officer T.J. Rix says, "Well the do not park signs help facilitate public safety in that we don't want the cars parking up here to the point where they're going blocking the traffic."

There will be traffic cones in place that will also designate no parking just East of the South entrance on G Road. Parking will be permitted along the North side of G Road where the no parking signs are covered with a bag.

Police officials say they will have units patrolling the area to make sure the new policies are followed. Violators could face a ticket if they park in the no parking zone.
