A brushfire is contained in the Redlands, while the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

The fire happened at 3:30 Saturday afternoon at 671 Peony Drive. It started on the south end of a natural drainage wash area. The wash had not been cleaned out for quite sometime fire officials say.

Mike Page with the Grand Junction Fire Department says the wind was a huge factor in the fast spreading of the blaze. A red flag warning was in effect during the time of the fire. Gusty winds and low dewpoints helped in the spreading of the fire.

There were no injuries and no structures were burned in Saturday's brushfire. Four fire engines were on scene from Grand Junction, One engine from the Lower Valley Fire Department, Two vehicles from the Bureau of Land Management, and one Grand Junction Police Brush Unit.
