Bruce Told To Leave Podium Over Remark About Mexican Workers

Denver (AP) Colorado Springs Republican Representative Douglas Bruce has been ordered to leave the podium of the State House Of Representatives, after calling mexican workers “illiterate peasants.”

Bruce made the comment today during a debate on a bill that would allow the state to help immigrant workers get temporary visas from the federal government. The bill is designed to ease a shortage of farmworkers in Colorado.

The Mexican consulate in Denver did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Today's incident wasn't Bruce's first run-in at the capitol.

In January, he became the first Colorado lawmaker censured by the house after he kicked a newspaper photographer for taking his picture during a prayer.

Great job Mr. Bruce. I completely agree. There are many who feel the same way and I'm glad you said it for all of us. Speak English or go back. If we went to their country, they wouldn't adapt to our language and customs. Unfortunately, the Mexican government is in favor of them being in America because they send money home to their families which helps their economy. Therefore, their government will not do anything, like our own government, to solve the problem. There are solutions but until American leaders are willing to take a stand, nothing will get done. God Bless you Doug Bruce.
