Chesterfield, S.C. (AP) A South Carolina prosecutor urges that a teenager accused of plotting an attack on his high school undergo a mental health evaluation.

Ryan Schallenberger has a bail hearing today. The teen was arrested Saturday after his parents discovered he'd ordered 10 pounds of explosive ammonium nitrate on the internet.

Police say they found a hate-filled journal, plans for a bomb attack at the school and an audiotape to be played after Schallenberger died.

His parents sought help from mental health experts after the teen slammed his head into a wall at home last week, but authorities say the clinic offered no help.

Prosecutor Jay Hodge calls Schallenberger “just a soft-spoken little kid” who threatened to doing something “very violent.”
