Fort Collins, Colo. (AP) One man is in custody and an arrest warrant has been issued for another in connection with the 1998 beating death of a transient in Fort Collins.

Police say 56-year-old Frank Webb was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder Tuesday night at his home in Muscatine, Iowa.

A warrant has been issued for 46-year-old David Lee Griffin, who is in a Pennsylvania state prison for an auto theft conviction. Griffin also faces a first-degree murder charge.

Webb and Griffin are suspects in the death of Gary Martin Birks, whose body was found under a railroad bridge in September 1998.

Police say Webb and Griffin became suspects after the investigation was reopened in 2006.

Both men are awaiting extradition.
