The Grand Junction Police Department says it's making progress as it continues to investigate the death of a baby boy.

Last Tuesday, authorities found the infant wrapped up inside a home on Grand Vista Way, but could not find it's mother.

On Thursday, the police department sent two investigators to Alaska to follow leads in the case and potentially catch up with the mother.

Monday those investigators, the District Attorney's Office, and the Mesa County Coroner's Office held a conference call to discuss their findings.

Because this is an ongoing criminal investigation, officials couldn't release many details about the trip, but say investigators have made positive steps, and will remain in Alaska for the next few days.
