Tonight, the Garfield County Sheriff's office will hold an educational meeting about sexual predators.
There are between 40 and 50 registered offenders in Garfield County and recent events have lead the sheriff's office to hold the meeting about awareness. The goal is to empower and educate citizens on sex offender management. The Sheriff's office is hoping to tell residents how offenders are managed, and why it works.
The meeting starts at 6:30 at the Battlement Activity Center. Residents can ask questions, there will also be a personal safety drill for kids. It will teach kids what to do when their gut instinct tells them something isn't right.
