Denver (AP) Gov. Bill Ritter has vetoed a measure that could have reduced Medicaid payments to pharmacists.

Ritter said Monday the bill was premature because the federal government has a similar measure pending in the courts.

The bill raised concerns that the price of some drugs would be set so low that pharmacies would stop carrying them.

Ritter signed a package of energy bills later Monday. One is designed lure large-scale solar projects by allowing regulators to consider longterm benefits when setting rates.

Environmentalists say the bill is needed because solar projects are currently more costly to operate than wind and coal plants.
