Train Derailment Cleanup Ongoing, California Zephyr Service Out Until Next Week

Amtrak continued to work on clearing the scene of Monday night's train derailment near Mack, Thursday. In the morning they began taking 3 locomotives and 4 train cars to the railyard in Grand Junction, from there the equipment will be sent to a heavy maintenance facility in Indianapolis for repairs.

The derailment left hundreds stranded in Grand Junction. Officials say those passengers have made it to their destinations in California, but they say there will be no service on the California Zephyr between Auborn, California and Denver until January 20th.

If you have a ticket, officials say you will be given a refund.
