The Grand Junction Police Department is investigating a report of a bank robbery Friday afternoon at the Vectra Bank on North Avenue. The suspect was still at large Friday night. Around 2:00 PM, a man walked into the bank at 499 and 28 ¼ road.
Police say he was able to walk out with a backpack full of money. Police responded to the scene and quickly taped off the area and began their investigation. Authorities searched an abandonded building and called in a K–9 unit to try and pick up a scent, but were unsuccessful.
Witnesses were able to provide police with a description of the suspect. He is a white male in his 40's wearing a beige and multi colored beanie hat with ear flaps. He was also wearing a pair of goggles and has a scar on his right cheek.
He was carrying the money in a blue and black alpine backpack. No one was injured during the robbery and the bank reopened later Friday afternoon. Authorities have asked anyone with information regarding the robbery to notify law enforcement immediately.
