Grand Junction Police Officers Remember Important Crime Fighter

Grand junction police department is mourning the loss of one of its favorite crime fighters. Zara the dog passed away from cancer on Januray 6, 2004. She was retired at the time but spent six years working with the Grand Junction police department. She was utilized more than a thousand times and was vital in seizing approximately $62,000 in tainted drug money. Some of Zara's accomplishments include working crowd control when the Denver Broncos won their second straight superbowl and tracking and locating a robbery suspect for half of a mile. For her many accomplishments Zara received the third quarter patrol dog case award from the National Police K9 Association.
