The Western Colorado Drug Task Force made a drug bust Monday in Grand Junction. Agents from the Grand Junction Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Agency came together to detain several people on possible narcotics violations. The DEA detained four individuals in connection with drug violations and possible deportation issues.
It happened at the Big K–Mart parking lot on North Avenue. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, formerly the INS had an agent involved as well. The four individuals were being held at the Mesa County Jail.
The Grand Junction Police Department is unable to release any more details until they decide if the charges are under state or federal jurisdiction. Officials say the determination of this case being state or federal will depend on the amount of narcotics involved, as well as if there are any distribution charges.
