All Walks Of Life Represented In Honor Of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Grand Junction saw what organizers hope is the start of a new tradition Monday, a large public event celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. Participants marched to City Hall from several locations around downtown, then joined together in song and prayer. Many participants say they admire Dr. King's messages of faith and non–violence.

In addition to celebrating his work with the civil rights movement, they cited the continued importance of understanding people's differences. Organizers were pleased with the turnout, but hope to attract more people in years to come. Dr. King would have been 76 years old this past Saturday.
