Aided by warmer temperatures and a shrinking snow pack, members of the Mesa County Search and Rescue Team will begin the recovery search for a missing Grand Junction man Wednesday.
Daniel Walker, 54, has been missing since January 9th while on a day skiing and snowshoeing trip with his family. Walker left his wife and daughter in a safe spot and went to seek help for the three, who got lost in bad weather near Jumbo Lake
The two women, Deborah Walker, his wife, 49, and Camille Walker, his daughter, 18, were found a week ago by the Mesa County Search and Rescue Team and were in good shape despite heavy snow, but five days of searching failed to find the Grand Valley engineer. The search was called off last Thursday night because of exhausted search teams and lack of any additional evidence Walker was still moving.
Wednesday, teams will fan out from the Jumbo Lakes area using snowmobiles. Ground teams, an avalanche dog, and a helicopter will also be utilized to search for the man.
