The founder of the Western Slope Viet Nam War Memorial announced Tuesday that the popular memorial in Fruita will grow even more with the addition of a new statue. Jim Doody said the statue will feature three bigger than life figures of a father and mother greeting a son returning from war.
Doody says even though the statue will be located at a memorial to the Viet Nam War, the statue is intended to be timeless. Telluride resident and Viet Nam veteran Richard Arnold has been chosen to create the statute, which is estimated to cost between $50-60,000.
