The price you pay for natural gas could drop significantly according to X–cel Energy officials. Tuesday, X-cel proposed a commodity price drop which would amount to a 30% to 35% decrease in energy prices next month. Officials say the proposed price drop is in anticipation of customers using significantly smaller amounts of natural gas in February.
This all comes in light of warmer than normal temperatures and an increase in natural gas surplus. Wade Haerle with X-cel Energy said the typical residential customer is expected to decrease in consumption by 28% next month. The Colorado Public Utilities Commission will decide on the proposed price drop.
The decision will come before February 1st.
