After receiving good news from the State of Colorado this week, the Riverside Parkway Project is now preparing to move forward. State transportation officials have approved the Riverside Parkway's 5th Street interchange that will run through lower downtown Grand Junction.
The approval allows project managers to move forward with what will become the largest public works project in the Western Slope's history. Now that the parkway has approval they can begin to purchase more land. They can also move forward with the selection of a contractor with all bids due by February 28th.
City officials believe that construction can begin in the late spring or early summer, and they are still optimistic that the project can be completed within three years, well ahead of initial expectations.
