Clifton Home Destroyed By Fire, Family Faces Complete Loss

Micheal Gagnon awoke Sunday morning to smoke and a small fire in the front bedroom of his trailer. Investigators say the fire was caused by a portable electric heater in the bedroom.

The Clifton fire protection district responded to the fire at 611 Tropicana Drive in the eight o'clock hour. Upon arrival firefighters found a large amount of smoke coming out the front of the trailer. One of the trailer's occupants attempted to extinguish the fire on his own, but was unsuccessful.

The family's cat and two hamsters died in the fire. Authorities say the trailer is a complete loss, but fortunately family members were able to salvage about half of their personal belongings.
