A man wanted in connection with a number of serious crimes in New Jersey was arrested by Grand Junction police Wednesday. Korey Russell Hatcher, 20, was taken into custody by Mesa County Sheriff's Deputies after authorities in Burlington County, New Jersey notified them that the fugitive was in the area.
According to sheriff's officers in New Jersey, Hatcher skipped town before he could be sentenced on robbery, assault, and weapons charges.
Mesa County authorities contacted the man at a home in a trailer park on Orchard Mesa. At first Hatcher resisted arrest, but then complied when one deputy pulled out his Taser.
Hatcher is being held in the Mesa County Jail awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
