In a little more than a week the two most prominent political parties in Mesa County will have new leadership. Republican Party Chair Barbara Brewer is stepping down from her post, so is Skip Mottram, Chairman of the Democratic Party. Along with filling Brewer's seat, the Republican Central Committee will vote to decide who will fill the two vice-chair, secretary, and treasurer positions.
While on the Democrat's side the central committee will vote on a total of seven new officers, chairperson, four vice-chairs, secretary, and treasurer. Some Republicans are anticipating a three way race for chairperson of the party, while the Democrats are expecting a good turnout of candidates as well.
Both parties' Central Committee Meetings are scheduled for Saturday, February 5th. The Republicans will hold their elections at the Grand Junction City Hall beginning at 9:00 AM. The Democrats are planning their elections for 10:00 AM at the Pinon Grill at Tiara Rado Golf Course.
