A traffic stop on Interstate 70 near Debeque ends with state troopers taking a suspect into custody for the U.S marshals Service Tuesday afternoon. Osman Ismael Perez from Ontario, California, was wanted by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency for possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
He was a passenger in this Jeep traveling eastbound on I–70 in Debeque Canyon. The driver of the car was speeding, which caught the attention of the Colorado State Patrol. It turned out, the driver had no license or insurance. That caused troopers to check the passenger's driver's license. They then discovered Perez had a federal warrant out for his arrest.
A search of the vehicle yielded no drugs. The driver was ticketed, but not arrested. Tuesday night, Perez was at the Mesa County Jail on a federal hold.
